A Proud NAGer

By Tsewang Sherpa Class VII

My name is Tsewang Sharpa. I am 19 years old and studying in class 7. In our school we have four houses in our school. These are the yellow, green, blue and red houses. I am captain of the blue house. I am also a monitor of class 7. I also do other duties beside my school hours. I look after the dinning room during break, lunch, tea and dinner. The other captain of other house, the school captain and the school vise captain also help me to control the dining hall. We need to control them, because they make unnecessary arguments and some even try to violate the rules of the hostels. Most of the trouble-makers are girls. They try to create problem. So I am very strict and pay attention to them while they eat their food. They also waste food and throw it on the floor. Nicole Miss and Jeetan Sir are happy with my duty in the dining hall. At the end I would say from my heart that I am very happy, proud and lucky to be a NAGer.

3. Designation at NAG:  Vice-Principal of NAG’s School (Shrine Academy former Niten Niketan Academy).

5. Since when have you been working in NAG’s school? Since May 1999.

6. What do you like about NAG? I am impressed with many aspects of NAG. But what I like most is it’s noble objectives to providing educatoin for the under-privileged Kids.

7. What don’t you like about NAG? So far I have not come across any such bottlenecks to dislike.

8. What do you think the school is lacking? I don’t think Shrine is lacking anything. We are providing education to the kids in a very congenial atmosphere compared to other schools. We have made every effort to enhance the educational standard of our students.

9. How do you personally think about working in Shrine? How long do you think you will be working for Shrine? I am happy with my job in terms of personal as well as professional satisfaction. So, it would be unwise to pinpoint about the duration of working.

10. What do you think of the students studying at NAG? Do you think they are doing better than before (study/ discipline/ outdoor activities etc)? Obviously the students studying at NAG are very fortunate to get the opportunity to study. Definitely they are doing better then before in terms of discipline, studies, extra curricular activities. But they must strive for further progress in every aspect of career.

11. What is the best part of your personal life at NAG? The best part of my personal life at NAG is to make my students get rid of Mathematics phobia. I think I have been successful to some extent.

12. What do you think the students feel about moving from Boudha to Sanepa? When shifting to a new place it takes time to cope with the new surrounding and society. Some might have some personal attachment with the old place or some acquaintance with some people. They will adjust to the changes. For the day students there seems little more problem of getting ready earlier. But our kids must realize that this sacrifice will help them to lead a life of virtue in the future and we have a school Bus for them.

13. Who are the most important people in your life? The most important people in my life are Mr. H. B. Tandon, L. M. Gynawali and Krishna Bahadur Thapa. I am highly obliged to these trio-gentlemen for their continuous support. They are my Honorable Teachers who left no stone unturned to continue my studies when I was compelled to give them up and work. They taught me that the success demands sacrifice and education outshines the ignorance and the feeling of insecurity.

14. Do you think the students of NAG are getting what all the students are getting in other school? Of course, they are. In fact, they are luckier than the students of some other schools where the facilities of library, laboratory, sports etc are lacking.

15. What is your worst habit? Can you get rid of it? My worst habit is smoking. I can’t say I can get rid of it, but I am trying first to minimize, then to give up.

16. How much you think you are important for NAG? My importance for NAG should be thought and felt by the boss, not me.

17. Do you have any nickname and who calls you with it and why? I have a nickname “Abajhi”. Nobody calls me that now. I started this nickname myself when I was a college student.

18. What is the most embarrassing moment in your life? I don’t have such a moment.

19. Can you tell us about your childhood and your education as a child? My childhood was miserable. My father married three women and when it was time to focus on my studies, he ran away with a fourth woman leaving me alone in the remote village. I had to remain without food for two or three days. I worked for others in their field so that I could get some food crops (not money) as my wage. With this situation I had no other alternative except to give up my studies. But God had different plans. He came to help me in the disguise of the pre-mentioned trio-gentlemen and made me continue my studies. Those gentlemen did everything for me within their reach. I was lucky to enjoy the love, faith and help from those honorable gentlemen.

20. Why did you come to NAG? You are a man with lots of talents especially in the education field. I joined NAG through an advertisement. I had no special feeling before I joined. After I joined the school, I sensed the difference between the objectives of NAG and other commercial schools. Then I realized that not all the schools are the same. Here the students have more or less similar circumstances as I had during my school days. This actually brought the change in my attitude and hence I have been working till now. As far as my talent is concerned, I would not to call it “talent” but “knowledge through experience”.

21. Are you happy to work at NAG? Of course I am happy. Had I been unhappy, you would have not been here interviewing me now.

22. Would you leave Shrine if any better opportunity comes along? If a better opportunity would be my condition to work here, I would have already left in past. Better opportunities still keep coming but all such opportunities do not come along with the conscientious boss. I prefer the opportunity with benevolent atmosphere.

23. Under what circumstances would you leave NAG?I cannot think of any such circumstances.

24. Who influenced you the most?  If you mean ideology, I am greatly impressed by the life of the poet Devkota of Nepal and Abraham Lincoln of U.S.A.

25. What do you want to change at Shrine? We are growing in terms of quality education and number of students. Naturally we might need to change ourselves in certain areas to cope with the existing circumstances.

26. Most of the people find Mathematics hard subject? Why do you find it so easy? Mathematics is not hard at all rather it is often portrayed to be a difficult one. When we teach, we should erase the notion that Mathematics is difficult. But math really demands concentration and sincerity.

27. Can the school run smoothly without you? If that condition comes, why not?  Everyone is replaceable in this world.

28. What is the principle of your life?  Equal opportunity for all through education.

29. We would like to hear few words, how you feel about NAG and the SHRINE ACADEMY.  Nag and Shrine Academy are synonymous. The kids are very lucky. They are erasing their ugly past and heading towards a bright future. NAG is providing them everything that they need.

Wishes

By Gelbu Sherpa Class VII

There are many wishes within me

But they are hanging like dreams

So my heart breaks

All my dreams turned to be disabled

And are getting weak

All my smile and happiness swept away

Laughing at my poverty

And my dream itself has been wounded within me

My dream that used to be like mountains

But today it is tearing within it

These are my dreams

These are my wishes

Lost in poverty

Mystery

By Avay Gautam ClassVII

Where are the place and the land that I went for voyage?

Where is the dream that I searched to be true.

Where is the happiness, which yesterday was in me.

Where are the people to see the tears in my eyes.

Who are the friends that used to give me inspiration?

Who are the people to make me laugh?

I was drowning in the ocean of tears.

Who is the creator to create these feelings?

Who are the parents that gave birth leaving me puzzling.

I will ask questions to those.

Where and who knows?

How and when will it happen?

I think the mysteries may just unfold in a second.

Dead Alive

By –Raj Kumar Shakya Class 8

My heart beats for my people ……

I don’t know about my life

Still I know there are dead-alive

Because their dear ones son, daughter, father, and mother have died

No one knows if they might live or die another day then that is all that remains

Who will be there at the end to grief

Tears fall on the sand and dry in the wind

It is better dying than being dead alive

For what is there a world to stay happily?

Beside the grief of their family

I wonder, why they are not killed with their family.

It is to grieve for a lifetime and to live dead alive

Will they be able to live without their relatives?

Beside, why is there more destruction and less construction?

Though it is not my right to mention I think but I don’t understand why the people are doing this.

For being great! Who will call them great?

Other than themselves, will they be great

By killing others and leaving their relatives

To grieve and if it comes to the word ‘Great’

The left relatives curse them

Because they have made their life

Only the dead-alive

MAN KIND

By Sudeep Khatri, Class: VIII

Man can feel others affection

Man can share his affection

Man wants to be content.

But therefor will be discontent.

Man himself is poor.

He has a house with window not door.

Other disgrace his living

So, he will stop giving.

Man will do crime.

Man will be a captive.

Man’s heart will be broken

And he will realize all.

Man begged to be out of prison.

But he never accomplished it.

His affection remains inside.

And he will give up his living

to leave a safe journey behind.

One drop after another, the biggest ocean is made.

One bricks after another, the highest wall is made.

One step after another, the longest journey is made.

One tree after another, the deepest wood is made.

One sand after another, the widest desert is made.

One mistake after another, the biggest blunder is made.

One compromise after another, the choicest decision is made.

One wise act after another, the wisest man is made.

One patient understanding after another, the profoundest patience is made.

One good after another, the noblest man is made.

One kid after another

Nawa Asha Griha is made

Wisdom

By Dhurba Giri, Class VIII

Borrowed garments never fit well.

Money spent on ourselves may be a millstone about the neck; spent on others it may give us wings like eagle.

Moral life is the backbone of the spiritual life. There cannot be any spiritual life without a moral life.

Time and the world do not stand still. Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or the present are certain to miss the future.

A culture that cannot understand modern times is an incomplete culture.

Forgiveness is the strength of the weak and ornament of the strong.

He is only bright that shines by himself.

There is more pain in doing nothing than doing something.

To be trusted is a greater compliment than to be loved.

Respect others and in return you get respect.

Let’s beat up the elephant’. The 2nd ant-Please said ‘let’s not, because he

is alone and we are two, we outnumber him. We should have a kind heart and leave him.’

Father: Daughter, we should not be greedy….

Daughter: You yourself are very greedy, father.

    Father: How?

Daughter: If you were not greedy then, why did you do the operation to my brother to take out the gold coin, which he had swallowed.

God to save him. When he opened his eyes, he saw the tiger also praying to God. Then,

Traveller – Oh!  Are you scared of me? Ha Ha …. So,,,

Traveller – Then, why are you praying to God.

Tiger – Oh! That! I just got the habit of praying before my meals.
